As A Professional Counselor , I Embrace The Following Philosophies
I believe that you deserve to feel better
I believe that you can feel safe and free in your relationship
I believe that change is possible when you allow yourself the space to do the work
I believe that taking care of yourself is the most generous thing you can do for the world
I believe that the biggest thing standing in your way is the fear that life always has to be the way that it is now
My Professional Background
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin Lacrosse. Afterward, I received my Master's in Educational Psychology at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. After receiving my degree, I worked with children and families in their homes to help create better relationships. I also worked with individuals with chronic mental illness, where I could work and attend to individuals who felt alone and forgotten. I moved into outpatient mental health therapy in 2005 at Alternatives in Psychological Consultation. When my son was born in 2011, I partnered with Brandon Wells at Shoreside Therapies, turning it into a 2 location group practice that has been more rewarding than I could have ever dreamed. During that time, I was honored to teach graduate courses at Lakeland University for ten years, educating new therapists. As of 2023, I was able to start VitalMinds, an online counseling practice geared toward combining my love for counseling clients and educating and supervising therapists.

Whitman Middle School
Wellness Presentation Series
I had the privilege of collaborating with middle school teachers on wellness and self-care. Bi-weekly meetings involved presentations on CBT, mindfulness, meditation, and yoga. These remarkable teachers not only embraced these techniques, but also integrated them into their teaching practices and personal lives. Witnessing the principal's unwavering support for these educators was truly inspiring. Teachers, who often go unnoticed, make countless sacrifices. Being able to assist them with self-care was an invaluable experience.

My Journey To Becoming A Professional Counselor
It is essential to share that I know I’m no different from the clients I see. Like everyone else, I'm human. I've been through both wonderful and challenging experiences that have shaped who I am and how I help. I am continuously trying to better myself and learn from my mistakes.
Ever since I can remember, I was always curious about people's behavior. The how and the why. I remember wondering why kids were acting out in class and why I was talking too much! As a teenager, this curiosity continued, talking to friends and wondering why we often mistreated each other. When I started in psychology in college, it was always the area of education that I wanted to learn more and more about. The only area that was never boring. There was always something more to learn. Like everyone else, I have experienced loss and challenges and continue to be challenged by life. Therapy is literally for anyone. It has been incredible to help so many people in my life. I believe in it, how therapy can challenge our belief patterns that get in our way. How our egos can often deteriorate our relationships. How we constantly have opportunities to grow if we allow ourselves to be open to listening and learning. I offer my clients hope, education, empathy, and direction.
My life experiences led me to become the Professional Counselor and Owner of VitalMinds and Shoreside Therapies.
Helping People Is What I Look Forward To Every Day
Being a Professional Counselor and Owner of VitalMinds and Shoreside Therapies is invigorating. I love helping people become healthier and more empowered and seeing them finally getting the life they desire. The most rewarding thing about being a Professional Counselor and Owner of VitalMinds and Shoreside Therapies is seeing a person walk away lighter, more accessible, and excited about their life. I am committed to guiding you to where things feel manageable again.
